This Privacy Notice applies to Juno Insurance Group, PBC and Juno Insurance Services, LLC (collectively, “Juno”, “we”, “our”, and “us”).
We value our relationship with you and are committed to protecting the confidentiality of your nonpublic personal information (hereafter referred to as “Personal Information” and encapsulating all the various types of information referenced throughout this Privacy Notice). This Privacy Notice explains what Personal Information we collect, how we use and share Personal Information, and how we protect your privacy. This notice applies to prospective, current, and former customers.
Please read the following to learn more about how we may collect, use, and handle your Personal Information during the application, underwriting, quoting, policy administration, and claims administration processes for our insurance products and services, and when you interact with our websites, software, advocacy, charity, or other services (“Services”).
Information You Provide. We collect the content and other Personal Information you provide when you use our Services. To the extent that you disclose to us any Personal Information of another individual, you represent that you have obtained such individual’s consent for the disclosure of such Personal Information, as well as the processing of the same in accordance with the terms of this Policy. Should you choose to provide feedback on our Services or contact us for support, we will keep a record of that communication. This information may include but is not limited to your name, date of birth, postal address, phone number, family member information, accident & health insurance information, gender, and marital status.
Information Provided About You. We may receive Personal Information about you from your employer or third parties involved in providing Services to you. We also may receive information about you using our Services and your online activities on and off our websites and apps from third party partners, such as analytics from Google.
Information we obtain about your transactions with us and our Service Partners.
We may receive Personal Information about you from your transactions with us and our Service Partners. This information may include, for example, information regarding your employment status (including changes to your exempt versus non-exempt, part-time versus full-time, and other employment related classifications), your major medical enrollment status and any changes, your listed family members (including new additions!), claims, billing status, insurance policy changes and updates, and other administrative and claims related information. We also collect information about how you use our Services or otherwise interact with us.
We may collect information from or about the computers, phones, or other devices you use to access the Services, depending on the permissions you’ve granted. Here are some examples of the information we may collect:
Under 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not attempt to send any Personal Information about yourself to us. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information from a child under age 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that a child under 13 may have provided us Personal Information, please contact us.
Provision of the Services. We use the Personal Information we collect to provide, maintain, protect, and improve the Services, to develop new ones, and to protect Juno, our other users, and you. We may also use this information to better provide our Services to you.
Contact. We may use your Personal Information to send you marketing communications, communicate with you about our Services and let you know about our policies and terms. We also use your information so that we can respond when you contact us. If you do not want to receive communications from us, please indicate your preference by contacting us using the contact information contained in this Privacy Notice.
Retention. We’ll retain information for as long as we need it for the uses described above, or as required by law. We may also keep Anonymized Information (as defined herein) about your Service usage even if we no longer need these records.
We reserve the right to disclose, as permitted by law, all Personal Information that we collect about you. Generally, this includes sharing your Personal Information with third parties to administer your transactions with us, process and service your insurance policy or claim, prevent fraud, perform research, comply with the law, comply with a request from law enforcement or other governmental entities, or as needed with your consent or authorization.
Juno Service Partners. Juno uses certain trusted third parties, including those who play a role in an insurance transaction such as (re)insurance companies, (re)insurance brokers, payment vendors, policy administrators, claims adjusters and other claims related companies, contractors, investigators, attorneys and other third parties who provide services in facilitation of your policy or claim, collection and subrogation companies, and other vendors and contractors involved in the insurance transaction, as well as third parties who perform a business or professional function for us, including providers that help complete transactions, handle a claim or service your policy, provide marketing and advertising, email or other communication services, engage in credit, insurance, or claims reporting, provide payment processing or collection, provide tax, accounting, audit, legal and data enhancement services, provide technology services and enhance security, privacy and fraud protections, provide analytics services or conduct research or actuarial studies, and provide support to our operations (“Service Partners”). Our Service Partners help us provide, improve, protect, and promote our Services. These third parties may access your Personal Information only to perform tasks on our behalf in compliance with this Privacy Policy.
Additional External Parties. Except as prohibited by law, we may share your Personal Information with:
Some products or services we may offer or recommend may be provided by other companies. These companies will collect and use your Personal Information as described in their privacy policies. These companies may share information with us as to whether you have activated, and maintain the activation of, their product or subscribed to their services.
Independent Insurance Agents / Brokers. The independent agents and brokers authorized to sell our insurance products are not employees and are not subject to Juno’s or our insurance company partners’ privacy policies. The independent agents may have different Personal Information about you than we do and may use your Personal Information differently than we do. You should contact your insurance agent or broker representative if you have questions about their collection and use of your Personal Information.
With Your Consent. We may request your consent to share Personal Information about you with additional third parties. In some cases, we may request additional consent from you if we think that there is other information that will help us better coordinate your care or better personalize the Services to fit your needs.
Law & Order. We may disclose your Personal Information to third parties if we determine that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to (1) comply with the law; (2) protect any person from death or serious bodily injury; (3) prevent fraud or abuse of Juno, our other users, or you; or (4) protect Juno’s property rights.
Anonymized Information. We may also share information with third parties in a manner that has been deidentified or anonymized in aggregate in accordance with applicable laws. Deidentified information involves individual records that can no longer be associated or relinked with any particular individual. Aggregate information involves information about groups of consumers that can no longer be linked back to any individual's Personal Information. Together, deidentified information and aggregate information comprise anonymized information (“Anonymized Information”).
We take commercially reasonable measures, including administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, to protect your information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Nevertheless, the internet is not a 100% secure environment, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of the transmission or storage of your information. We also restrict access to Personal Information to those personnel who have a legitimate need for the information.
If you are a resident of Arizona, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon or Virginia, you have the right to request access to, correction and deletion of Personal Information that we have about you. Because of its legal nature, Personal Information obtained in connection with, or in anticipation of, a claim or civil or criminal proceeding, need not be shared with you. We may charge a reasonable fee to cover the costs of providing you with a copy of your information where it is permitted by law. Upon request of the residents of other states not listed above, we will take reasonable steps to verify the accuracy of the Personal Information in our records.
If you would like to correct information that you provided to us, we will make the appropriate changes to our records. If you wish to correct Personal Information that was provided to us by a third party (such as a consumer reporting agency), we will provide you with the applicable third party’s contact information. If we are unable to make the change that you request, we will provide an explanation of our refusal to do so. If we do not make the change, you may send a statement for insertion in your file. Minnesota residents may file an appeal with the Insurance Commissioner.
Deletion. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us. Some information may remain in our records in accordance with our duties and obligations as licensed insurance professionals. We may also use Anonymized Information derived from or incorporating your personal information after you update or delete it, but not in a manner that would identify you personally and only as permitted by law.
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time, and will post the current version on our website. We will also directly notify all existing Juno policyholders of such changes. If we are involved in a reorganization, merger, acquisition, or sale of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal.
